The Learning Constructs

The Learning Constructs are a framework that has been devised to develop metacognition, providing teachers and students with a consistent language about learning to use across all subjects.  In the context of a growth mind set, this will improve students' ability to evaluate learning, find the next steps to learn in more depth and improve resilience and perseverance.

There are 8 Learning Constructs within the rubric, enabling learners to progress independently, scaffolding steps, developing skills to be autonomous and self-directed.  Each half term, Year 7 learn a new construct using booklets with keywords, positive messages and evaluative activities. These are accompanied by creative lessons and practical activities to encourage deeper reflections about learning, developing personal skills and improving literacy.
