Oracy is defined as the ability to express oneself fluently and grammatically in speech. Oracy supports students in learning to talk and learning through talk. Through Oracy, students are cognitively stretched and challenged to formulate their own opinions and share these with their peers. Oracy fundamental to supporting the development of reading and writing skills, and yet is often over-looked. Oracy prepares students for the demands of higher education and the work-place, as well as supporting their learning in KS3, 4 and 5.
