Alumni Showcase SUMMER TERM 2021
Would you like to know what happens to Green School Sixth Formers when they leave us and venture out into the big wide world? Over the next few weeks we have decided to showcase some of our wonderful alumni and allow you an insight into their careers and the routes they have taken. These videos were originally used as part of the Year 9 Virtual Careers Fair, however we are so proud of our former students and what they have achieved we decided we wanted to share them with a wider audience, so enjoy!
Here is our Week five Alumni: This week's Alumni, Ally Tyger, works for a company called Elmwood Design Agency. Her degree is in graphic design. Alongside her commitments at Elmwood, Ally is a diversity and inclusion advocate in her local community and within the design industry. She is also a member and mentor at Bloom UK, seeking to empower women and confront barriers women face within the creative and communications industries. For the fourth week of our alumni showcase we present Hannah Lim, a young, very accomplished artist, with a highly individual style which she claims links back to her culture and origins. Hannah’s art teachers were always impressed by her artistic flair. Her Foundation Art Diploma was taken at Central St. Martins. She then transferred to the University of Edinburgh where she gained a BA Honours in Sculpture. Now less than a year out of university Hannah’s creations are so impressive she has already been working with professionals and exhibiting her work. In this 10 minute talk Hannah will talk about her journey so far and also present a few of her beautiful designs. https://youtu.be/9MFAcIIV43A |
Week Three of our Alumni Showcase moves us into the world of finance and working for a large international business.
Seema joined The Green School in September 2003 and went on to become Deputy Head Student whilst in the Sixth Form. She always loved Mathematics and attended King's College London to study for her degree. Seema has now worked for Shell for 7 years across both Europe and Africa. Her latest promotion to Senior Financial Advisor is linked to Renewable Energies namely - Solar, Storage, Nature Based Solutions, Biofuels and Energy Retailing. In this 11 minute video she talks about her journey and what it is like working for an international company. https://www.youtube.com/watch?

This Summer Showcase video features Charlotte Ashton, whose A-Levels included English Literature. Her love of words led Charlotte to study English Language and Linguistics at university and to begin her career working for an International Finance Magazine and then the Financial Times. She now works as an Agency Sales Manager for the huge retail giant, Amazon. This seems a far stretch from studying A-level English Literature at The Green School and just proves how transferable our skills are and where A-Level English can take you! Find out what Charlotte does now in this seven minute video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?

Part of Sarah's degree included a year researching at the University of Illinois in the USA. In this 12 minute interview she shares insights into her career as well as her study choices. Her job includes writing reports, using data, making presentations and much more. Sarah talks about changes to her career as a result of the pandemic and the future of her role.
